Medical expenses cover upgrade — $500K to $750K
Every Voyager policy includes $500,000 overseas medical cover as standard, with the same limit for adults, children, and seniors. For longer trips or destinations with higher healthcare costs, you can upgrade cover to $750,000 for greater peace of mind while travelling.
What’s covered:
- 50% more medical expenses cover — increases your overseas medical cover from $500,000 to $750,000 for medically necessary overseas treatment, emergency dental treatment, and TCM.
- Equal-limits principle — every insured person on your policy receives the same $750,000 overseas medical cover, regardless of age, including adults, children, and seniors.
- Emergency evacuation cover stays separate — your $1,000,000 emergency evacuation limit is covered separately from your overseas medical cover.

Good to know:
- Activities must be for leisure with a licensed operator — not competitive, professional, or unsupervised.
- Trekking is covered up to 4,000 metres above sea level.
- On annual policies, adding Adventure Cover extends it to all eligible trips for your policy year.

Sports equipment
From golf clubs and skis to diving and fishing gear, get added protection for your sports equipment if it’s lost, stolen or damaged during your overseas trip.
What’s covered:

Good to know:
- Cover applies during travel and not while the equipment is actively being used.
- Report theft promptly by informing the local police as soon as possible if your equipment is stolen.
- Keep proof of ownership such as receipts or supporting documents for your sports equipment where possible.
Special events cover
Travelling overseas for a concert, sporting event, wedding or other special occasion? If unexpected transport disruptions affect your journey, we help cover either replacement public transport costs or the cost of your booked event.
What’s covered:
- Replacement transport costs – If your booked public transport is cancelled, postponed or delayed, we cover reasonable replacement public transport costs to help you attend your special event, or
- Event booking or ticket costs – If transport disruption means you are unable to attend the event, we can reimburse the cost of the booked event or ticket instead.
- Event type – Single-day, fixed time.
Good to know:
- Single-day events only including concerts, sporting events, weddings, theatre shows and graduation ceremonies with a fixed start time.
- Either transport or ticket costs can be reimbursed, but not both.
- Planned events only as invitations must be accepted or bookings made before purchasing this optional cover.
- This cover does not apply if the event itself is cancelled or postponed.
Rental car excess
If you rent a car overseas, this cover helps pay the excess charged if your rental car is damaged during your trip and covered under your rental car insurance policy, whether or not you purchased the rental company’s collision damage waiver (CDW).
What’s covered:

Good to know:
- Named drivers only as you and all co-drivers must be listed on the rental agreement, hold a valid locally recognised driving licence and be at least 30 years old at departure.
- The damage must be covered by your rental car insurance policy — we only reimburse the excess you’re contractually required to pay
- Covered vehicles: coupe, convertible, sedan, SUV, MPV, four-wheel drive. Campervans, motorcycles, and similar vehicles are not covered
- Co-drivers must also be insured under this policy to be eligible
