Motorcycle Insurance Cover Types in Singapore
Choose the Right Level of Cover
You can choose from 3 motorcycle insurance cover types
If you’re wondering what type of motorcycle insurance you should get, you need to determine the level of protection you wish to have. The first step in customising your motorcycle insurance policy is choosing your base cover type that provides the right motorcycle insurance for your needs:
- Third Party Only (TPO) - If you only want the bare minimum bike or motorcycle insurance required to ride in Singapore, this is the right coverage type for you. TPO protects you from liabilities against third-party claims only. With TPO you're responsible for covering repairs to your bike and are not covered from fire, theft, vandalism, and if you lay your bike down on your own.
- Third Party Fire & Theft (TPFT) - Get the cover of TPO plus additional protection in case your bike is stolen or damaged in a fire. With TPFT you also get to add on optional benefits to further improve your level of cover.
- Full Comprehensive - If you love your motorcycle, a comprehensive type of insurance is the best way to protect it. In addition to the above two plans you get protection from your own crashes, natural disasters, vandalism and towing following an accident. This plan also gives you the option to add on optional benefits for the greatest protection for your motorcycle.

Frequently asked questions about Motorcycle Insurance
Do I have optional flexible benefits?
Whichever motorcycle insurance type you decide to go with, whether Third-Party Only (TPO), Comprehensive (COMP) or Third-Party Fire & Theft (TPFT), you will be eligible for a number of optional flexible benefits. You have the option of adding benefits of No Claim Discount (NCD) Protector Plus, 24-hour roadside assistance, coverage of medical expenses and personal accident, replacement and shared protection, depending on the plan you choose.
How does the No Claim Discount (NCD) benefit me?
The No Claim Discount (NCD) is an incentive offered to riders who successfully complete their insurance period without making any insurance claims. When it comes time to renew your insurance, you will be then entitled to a discount. Unlike other insurance plans, DirectAsia’s NCD Protector Plus scheme lets you make an at-fault claim while still protecting your NCD status.
Can I claim insurance if my bike is stolen or destroyed by arson?
With DirectAsia’s Third Party Fire & Theft (TPFT) and Full Comprehensive (COMP) motorcycle insurance, you will be insured in the case of theft or fire. In the case of arson, in order to file, be sure to obtain the details of the reporting officer and a copy of the fire report. If your bike is stolen, have the copy of the police report ready.
