Information for Jetstar Asia passengers affected by cessation of operations
Jetstar Asia has announced it will cease operations from 31 July 2025. Please note that this situation is not considered an insolvency of airline under your policy, as Jetstar Asia is ceasing operations in an orderly manner and fulfilling its obligations to passengers.
We wish to update our Travel Policyholders on our advice on this situation.
What you should do
If you have been contacted by Jetstar Asia on flight re-schedule and/or refund, please immediately proceed to re-book your flight and re-schedule your hotel accommodation along with any other corresponding itinerary changes.
If you have not been contacted by Jetstar Asia, you should confirm whether your flight is proceeding as scheduled.
If your flight has been cancelled, please contact Jetstar Asia for the following:
- Request a refund or alternative flight
- Obtain official confirmation of your flight cancellation or refund status
If applicable, cancel or modify your accommodation and other bookings as soon as possible to minimise any additional costs.
Who can make a claim
All the following statements must be true:
- DirectAsia Policyholder with an in-force Travel insurance policy
- Jetstar Asia flight must have been cancelled or re-scheduled
- Affected Jetstar Asia passengers who have been unsuccessful in recovering a refund for their Jetstar Asia flight and accommodation
Conditions for cover and valid claims
We will support Policyholders who fulfil the above requirements and have re-booked a replacement flight within 24 hours of the original departure time in order to continue their journey.
For our Policyholders with Jetstar Asia flights scheduled before 31 July 2025, who have booked a replacement flight:
- Within 24 hours of the original flight times before 31 July 2025
For flights booked within 24 hours, we will pay the difference for an equivalent airline ticket for them to continue with their journey and any impacted accommodation or additional transport bookings affected by the flight change - Outside 24 hours of the original flight times – subject to case-to-case review
For our Policyholders with Jetstar Asia flights scheduled after 31 July 2025
Our usual terms and conditions pertaining to Trip Cancellation/Curtailment and Trip Postponement apply
Who we do not cover
- Policyholders with Jetstar Asia tickets who decide not to proceed with their trip where alternative flights are available
- Trip Cancellation/Curtailment and Trip Postponement Policyholders with Jetstar Asia tickets who have purchased a DirectAsia Travel Insurance Policy after 8am, 11 June 2025 (Wednesday)
How do I make a claim?
Prepare the following documents and submit your claim by logging in with your travel policy number:
- Proof of Travel and Jetstar Asia cancellation/delay notice
- Original and New Flight and Accomodation bookings
- Jetstar Asia ticket receipts and new airline/accommodation ticket receipts (if applicable)
