DirectAsia is looking for an Applications Developer. This role sits within the Application Development team for our strategic policy administration and web services system.

You will be part of a team that will be developing, supporting and maintaining this platform. It is a multi-skilled team comprising business and technology skills covering the complete software delivery lifecycle.

You are primarily responsible for implementation of changes to the Thailand segment of the eCommerce and middle tier application/web services components of this platform. If you are more experienced, you will also be responsible for ensuring quality in all aspects of the development life cycle and identifying opportunities to improve both the platform and development capability.

So what will you be doing specifically?

  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to assist with the design of functional requirements, acceptance criteria and technical requirements;
  • Develop, support and maintain insurance application (Java) and Web Services thata lign with architecture model;
  • Develop, support and maintain middle tier insurance application and Web Services that align with architecture model;
  • Provide estimation, plan and work allocation based on project timelines and requirements;
  • Perform unit and performance testing on application components and services;
  • Maintain design documentation (in UML) and development standards based upon the architectural model;
  • Communicate and collaborate with business users, business analysts and project managers to ensure all application development is completed on time within budget;
  • When necessary, work with project manager and external vendors to maintain and implement external interfaces/services;
  • Assist the Application Architect to re-model or re-align application based on evolving business objectives;
  • Perform manual testing as required;
  • Build strong productive relationships with business users and other member of IT to deliver effective solutions based on a deep understanding of the business drivers and system capabilities;
  • Develop an extensive knowledge of the systems and tool sets being used in the delivery life cycle;
  • Advocate and evangelise architectural best practices (for senior app developer);
  • Implement and continually improve aspects of the application stack (for senior app developer);
  • Identify problems and propose solutions as part of ongoing improvement of the team (for senior app developer).

And what are we looking for?

  • At least 3 years (app developer) / 5 years (snr app developer) of experience working in complex, multi-disciplined software delivery project teams utilising:
    • Java, Spring Framework, ORM (Hibernate, JPA, JDO & DAO), SOAP 2.0 (XML) and REST (JSON);
    • MVC framework and object oriented design (OOD) and UML;
    • SQL Server, database schemas, development of queries/ stored procedures.
  • Extensive experience working with end-to-end software development processes and methodologies/ frameworks;;
  • Experience in analysing business requirements, functional specifications and collaborative system specification;
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team, including analysing business requirements, functional specifications and collaborative system specification;
  • Experience in Microsoft C#, Web Services/ WCF;
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.

It'll also be great if you possess..

  • Experience of working on business-critical applications and large scale customer facing websites;
  • Exposure to Agile (Scrum) methodology;
  • Exposure to development environments using Continuous Integration (CI);
  • Experience of Agile workload planning and management (Stories, Tasks etc);
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and Test Driven Development (TDD);
  • Experience with application monitoring tools (e.g. App Dynamics, Dynatrace);
  • Insurance industry experience.

Our Customer Care Team comprises over 30 Customer Care Specialists in a contact center environment where we place strong emphasis on Acquisition, Retention and Customer Service with the desire to deliver world class customer experience.

As a member of the Singapore leadership team, the Assistant Manager, Customer Care is a critical player in our Singapore business, responsible for delivering over half our sales and delivering Superb Service. We are looking for a proactive, passionate, performance-driven leader to assist in managing the call centre and works with a dynamic team to devise and implement business growth strategy. At DirectAsia Insurance, we believe in bringing a happier insurance experience and this role involves leading and inspiring a large team to deliver our brand promise to our customers.

Your responsibilities are:

  • To achieve top line KPIs including, but not limited to, sales, service, productivity and quality;
  • To deliver quality sales conversion for new and renewal business, execute according to Contact Centre operation strategy to align with business objectives;
  • To lead and inspire a team of 10+ people to facilitate daily processes such as handling policy purchases, renewal and general enquiries, delighting our customers by delivering consistently high CSAT and NPS scores;
  • To understand and identify customers' feedback in a systematic manner;
  • To contribute to a highly motivated working environment and be the champion of our values BOLD, BRIGHT & DIRECT;
  • To build and lead a capable team with excellent team spirit and empower team members to achieve both personal and business goals;

  • To manage complaint cases escalated from industry regulators, support the team to handle customer complaints and devise service recovery strategies.

You should possess:

  • The ability to build, manage and lead a diverse team. There will be a need for you to coach and train team members to drive performance and ownership;
  • Knowledge in manpower management (planning, rostering and acquisition), implementing, improving and revising telephony systems and experience in project management;
  • The competency to understand operational processes and how to optimise them;
  • The ability to adapt, be flexible and drive change. You must be able to bring people with you through transformation;
  • The ability to effectively manage and resolve conflicts;
  • At least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, any field;
  • At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position;
  • A specialization in Sales - Telesales/Telemarketing or equivalent.
