Lawrence, 40, is a senior technical sales manager for a car firm. Married with 2 young children, he and his wife use the car for school runs and work. Lawrence has been driving for 10 years and has a 50% NCD.
Optional benefits he chose:
"I want my family to be provided for if anything happens to me whilst I'm driving. That's why I bought a Personal accident cover of S$100,000."
"I've been using my own workshop for years and I'm happy that the My Workshop option allows me to continue using them."
"I've earned my 50% NCD over a long period. The NCD protection prevents me from losing my NCD over a small accident."
What he didn't choose:
"I haven't taken the 24 hour breakdown as my own mechanic who I know well would be able to help me. I'm not taking the Medical benefit option either as my workplace provides me with this cover. I didn't choose the Loss of use benefit as my usual workshop can provide me with a car if necessary."
Meimei, 40, is a full-time housewife with 3 children. She uses the car for school runs
and shopping.
Optional benefits she chose:
"The S$50 per day under the Loss of use benefit would be helpful if I need to pay for the rental of a car if mine becomes unroadworthy following an accident."
"The 24 hour breakdown assistance will assure me of immediate help if my car breaks down, especially if the kids are with me."
What she didn't choose:
"I haven't chosen the My Workshop option as I'm happy to go with your recommended garage. I don't have any preferences as far as garages are concerned. I'm not going to take the Repatriation cost either as we don't travel to Malaysia in our car.
As for the Personal accident and Medical expenses benefit, I have opted to buy the general comprehensive policy instead to make sure all our family is fully covered 24/7 worldwide in the event of any accident, not just a car accident."
Ramesh, 30, is a finance executive. He is single and lives with his retired parents. He occasionally drives to Malaysia.
Optional benefits he chose:
"The S$100,000 Personal accident cover would help provide for my parents if I'm involved in a
fatal accident."
"A friend of mine had a car accident whilst in Malaysia and getting back to Singapore was a big, costly headache. The cover of S$3,500 for towing of my car and S$200 per person for travel expenses under the Repatriation cost benefit is a must for me."
"Renting a car can be costly so having S$50 per day Loss of use benefit would certainly save
me money."
What he didn't choose:
"I haven't chosen the Medical expenses benefit as I already have a comprehensive policy under my employer. I don't have a no claim discount so I won't choose the NCD protection."
