The main driver is the person that uses the car most frequently – they must be aged between 25 and 65 years old, with at least 2 years’ driving experience. He does not need to be the policyholder (car owner). He should be the person using the car most frequently.
Named drivers are occasional drivers you name under the policy. They are drivers aged below 30 and/ or with less than 2 years’ driving experience (Young and/ or Inexperienced Drivers). For DirectAsia.com, you only need to name young and/ or inexperienced drivers on your policy and you can name up to 2 people.
Authorised drivers are people that you give permission to use your car. Anyone can be an authorised driver so long as they are more than 30 years old and with more than 2 years’ driving experience. Their licence should also not have been suspended or cancelled in the last 5 years.

We make our policies in such a way that you pay only for what you need. Here are a number of ways you can cut costs on your premium.
- Opt to pay a higher excess. The higher the excess the lower the premium.
- Certain car models are more expensive to insure than others. Bear this in mind when purchasing a new vehicle.
- Our comprehensive cover gives you protection on the road. If you choose our optional extras then your premium will increase.
Your car insurance premium is based on a number of factors including driver profile which looks at your age, driving experience, No Claim Discount and the number of young and/or inexperienced drivers named on your policy. We also take into account the car's make, model and age.
The excess you choose will also affect your premium. The higher the excess, the lower the premium.
Any optional benefits you choose will also affect your premium.
An excess is the amount that you must contribute towards the cost of a claim. The type of excess and the amount payable will be shown on the Schedule. If you make a claim, you will have to pay us any excess that applies. The excess in your policy only applies to own damage and
windscreen claims.
If your No Claim Discount (NCD) is 30% or more, your Certificate of Merit (COM) from the Traffic Police entitles you to a discount over and above your NCD. This is your Offence Free Discount. At DirectAsia.com we reward safe drivers.

If you have been a named driver on someone else's insurance, you are not entitled to any NCD.
However, if you have been driving a company car and you then buy a personal car, you would be allowed to transfer the NCD. This is provided you can show the number of claims' free years you have with a letter from the HR department of your employer or from the leasing company, if the car is leased.

Under our comprehensive car cover your NCD will not be protected but if you have 50% NCD, then for a small additional charge you can opt to protect your 50% NCD. If you select NCD Protection under our optional benefits then we will protect your No Claim Discount (NCD) when you make up to one claim under your policy and if you renew with us.
Note that if you already have a NCD protection with your current insurer, the NCD that you declare to us would have to be your status before your NCD protection.

Statistically young drivers have more accidents. That's why we have a limit to the number of young drivers we insure. And that's just one of the ways we are able to keep premiums down.
Drivers authorised by the policyholder who are over 30 and with 2 years driving experience are covered under the policy.
The policyholder is also allowed to include two young and/or inexperienced drivers aged below 30 and/or with less than 2 years driving experience and who are related to the policyholder. So long as the policyholder names them.
If the claim is reported by the authorised driver under this policy for loss of or damage to the car then we will pay for the car to be repaired and the authorised driver would enjoy the same cover as the policyholder. BUT if we settle in cash in lieu of repairs, we would settle the claim with the legal owner directly.
Here is a checklist of who is eligible for our car insurance
